Experimenting with Inkscape

Description

Last night I tried a bit of an experiment- no gradients, no blurs, just solid fields of colour with various transparencies and line work, for a more graphicy feel. Inkscape doesn't have preset line styles yet, other than dotted and dashed lines, but no tapered line preset effects, so I had to pull and push the nodes and curves myself to achieve a tapered line or curve. Hope the new Inkscape version, whenever it comes out, will have more line styles/effects to choose from....yes, I have put in feature requests :D

i like how it came out! when i used to do my real-life portraits i started out not using any blurs, a few gradients, but i was so afraid (my professors fault) of any raster effects becoming pixellated when i blew it up that i avoided blurs and feathering like a plague. :D He was always saying stuff like, "if that was on a billboard..." and making scary faces :D i have to say i end up liking the line work verisons better than the ones using more blur, etc, because it shows all the work that goes into it, and feels a lot more "vector-ish" to me :D
